Using Social Media To Support Your Community

How To Be A Pillar In Your Community

Whether you are a big city or a small village Dentist you should always be part of your local community. Engaging with your locals will boost referrals and retention not just for one family member but for the whole community.

How To Be A Pillar In Your Community

The easiest way to get out there and show you care about your community is with a Charity.  This could be coffee mornings, sponsored fitness events or even collecting old clothes for your local homeless shelter, just to name a few. Remember to always keep it local!

It’s not always about Charity though you may have a local sport team that needs sponsoring like Smile With Us, who are the proud sponsors of Kidlington Colts under 10’S

Each year Clifton Dental Studio holds Patient Appreciation Parties where they reward their patients with awards such as “The most improved nervous patient” and “Happiest Patient”.

Not only this but Clifton Dental are one of our top implementers of community building events and have taken part in the Tooth Fairy Day, a free education day for toddlers. The John Lennon tooth tour, offering FREE mouth cancer screening during oral health awareness month and they also take part in pretty much every Nationwide charity event from Christmas Jumper  Day to Macmillan Coffee Morning and even auctioning off signed celebrity memorabilia.

These are just a few of the ways the team at MPOD can help you build your pillar in your community.

Did You Help Your Community During The Pandemic?

This was a big one for our members and the uptake was outstanding, across the Country we held webinars with ideas on how to help within the community during this crisis.

We felt it was important to get our members involved in helping people less fortunate, by helping with shopping, food bank collections, collecting prescriptions, hand delivering Invisalign for patients who were in mid treatment and even offering their lines open just for a chat. Some members signed up to assist the NHS in hot clinics and others offered FREE exercise classes online.

It was also important for our members to reach out to their patients especially the ones who were mid treatment, with temporary implants or crowns etc. This was done via phone and email but also the team supplied us with videos on treating dental emergencies at home and reassuring videos to let everyone know they are still there on the phone, this service was for everyone not just their patients.

Taking Community Spirit To the Next Level

When things started to open back up it was important to keep things local and support each other by buying local supporting local businesses. As marketers we made the use of everything possible to share and promote the local businesses of our members.

One team that took on our post lockdown challenge was Taylored Dental Care, Taylored Dental hosted a competition to find their Local Lockdown Hero. By putting up posters and posting on social media it wasn’t long until the nominations were flying in! After 2 weeks they did a random draw to reveal the winner of FREE tooth whitening worth just under £500 and also the Local Lockdown Hero trophy. It is safe to say that Taylored Dental Care are well on their way to building a strong and permanent pillar in their community.

What Is Instagram Reels?

What is Instagram Reels?

Instagram Reels is a brand-new feature to create instant fun and engaging video content.

It is remarkably similar to TikTok, where Instagram users can record and edit 15-second video clips set to music and share them to their Stories, IG Feed, and the new Reels tab on a user’s profile.

This will only show here once you have posted your first Reel.

How To Post on Reels

When it comes to Reels its amazingly easy to use and edit, adding music, different speeds, effects and timers. You can record or select a video from your library to add to the reel.

Just click the camera icon at the top left of your device the same as you would to create a story.

With the launch of this new feature Instagram stories have also had an upgrade giving you 3 main options all in the same place.

  • Live
  • Story
  • Reel

Once your post is live it has the chance to be shown in the featured section on the explore page of Instagram.

According to Instagram, “If your reel is featured in Explore, you’ll receive a notification. Featured reels are a selection of public reels chosen by Instagram to help you discover original content we hope will entertain and inspire you.”

We are yet to see any challenges coming across yet but I’m pretty sure it wont be long before we see a trend of Reel dance and fitness challenge so famous on TikTok.

Have a great day!

User-Generated Content

Are You Taking Advantage Of Your
User-Generated Content?

What Is UGC?
User-Generated Content (UGC) is any type of content, whether it’s a photo, video or branded image, that is created by any type of social media user, then posted to Instagram tagging you in the post or mentioning you in the captions. This is creating your UGC.

Why Use UGC?
It’s proven that millennials trust UGC more than any other type of social media content because it allows you to share the voice of your patients directly, think of it as a visual review.

Social Media platforms (feeds) are sacred to the users, so tagging you in or using your hashtags is an honour, don’t waste it!

How To Monitor Your UGC?
Keeping on top of your Instagram UGC alone can be time consuming, we recommend reposting from Tagged Posts, Mentions, Locations and direct feeds of interest i.e. your team’s pages, to get the best reach, engagement and increased followers.

Here at MPOD Connect with our IMPACT product we have NEW software that collects most of this information and allows us to share this direct across all platforms, not ONLY Instagram like apps such as Repost.
